The awards ceremony will be taped at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank on April 9, and air the following night. The ceremony is expected to be filmed primarily outdoors on the studio backlot “to capture the essence of movie- making magic.”
“Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart define what it means to be modern movie stars,” show executive producer Casey Patterson said. “They have a direct and personal relationship with their fans, who love them for it and have made them two of the biggest entertainers in the world.”
MTV also introduced a campaign that will allow fans to write and direct the Movie Awards official promo campaign. Beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, livestreams will be broadcast across social media outlets such as Facebook, YouTube, Periscope, Meerkat and YouNow, giving fans the chance to give Johnson and Hart direction using comments and the hashtag #movieawards.
